(Columbia, SC) - A former presidential candidate is pushing for South Carolina lawmakers to pass a school voucher program.
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush was in Columbia to advocate for school choice on Tuesday as part of his work with the organization ExcelinEd.
His remarks to the House Republican Caucus came just ahead of the House Education and Public Works Committee took public testimony on the subject.
During the 40-minute hearing, most who spoke did not support the bill, which would give up to 15-thousand students a year tuition for private school and other expenses like books and transportation fees.
