(Columbia, SC) - Lawmakers will consider removing South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis from his elected position in a hearing today. State senators will begin the hearing around noon- and it is expected to last several hours. Republican Senators Larry Grooms and Stephen Goldfinch will give a presentation on why Loftis should be removed- and Loftis will be able to respond in defense of himself. Senators are expected to vote on whether or not to fire Loftis at the end of the hearing. This comes as Treasurer Loftis says he already is planning to run for re-election next year.
